The question of thin client vs. thick client is pretty common.
Thick clients are the usual computers and laptops we encounter in everyday life.
Thin clients are the end points in a VDI environment, that require a connection to a centralized server to be operative. VDI technology is enabling the virtualization of the entire desktop (for example Windows and Microsoft Teams and other relevant applications) onto the VDI endpoint (thin client)
VDI stands for Virtual Desktop Infrastructure and is a virtualization technology that allows organizations to execute and store operation systems, softphone applications and more on virtual machines on a centralized server.
Each thin client device user in that VDI environment pulls the relevant desktop functionality from the server, onto the thin client.
VDI solutions increase the security of IT environments (Data protection and lower hacking risks) and are a cost-efficient alternative to non VDI environments. Due to their centralized nature, one of the key benefits of a VDI solution is that it considerably facilitates IT-department management in the long run.
EPOS Digital Solutions works in synergy with main VDI OS providers (IGEL, Unicon, Dell). Together we create the necessary compatibility for IT administrators to leverage the device management features enabled through EPOS Connect on the provided VDI OS and maintain EPOS Devices through EPOS Manager.
