To deliver effective noise reduction across all frequencies, the IMPACT 500 uses hybrid active noise cancellation — combining microphones inside and outside the earcups for optimal performance.
What is hybrid ANC?
Hybrid ANC combines feed-forward ANC, an external noise-sensing microphone which detects ambient sounds before they reach your ears, with feedback ANC, an internal noise sensing microphone which monitors sounds from the speaker.

EPOS BrainAdapt™ is a group of pioneering technologies that work together to improve cognitive performance. Based on more than a decade of psychoacoustic research dedicated to understanding how the brain perceives sound, we know that we hear with our ears but we listen with our brains.
This means that with a future software release, IMPACT 500 headsets will be able to connect directly to your computer, phone, or other device via built-in Bluetooth® — without the need for a USB dongle.

- Less hardware: You don’t have to carry or keep track of the dongle.
- Simpler pairing: It pairs directly with your laptop or phone using their native Bluetooth®, without a separate USB Bluetooth® adapter (“dongle”).

- Some users may prefer the dongle because it can provide better audio quality, longer range, lower latency, and more reliable connections in environments with lots of wireless interference.
